Quiet Work, Bright Light

Elizabeth Shea, September 1, 2025

On this Labor Day, I am thinking about the people I know who never get a "day off." For many people, caring for a loved one with significant disabilities and/or aging parents can be 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. There are no weekends, no breaks, no "holidays".

Their labor may not be recognized in the traditional sense, but it’s some of the hardest, most important work there is.

Please know that we see you.
